This grading scale has been developed to help with standardization of grades between instructors across the program. The description and explanations are meant to assist you in providing feedback to students on the work they submit. Do not share the third and fourth columns with students. The first and second columns may be included/adjusted as necessary in course materials/briefs.

Industry level work that you might see once every few years. All work is industry level, including process and presentation.
90-94% Outstanding Work: Outstanding comprehension of course learning outcomes. Requirements of assignment/course are satisfied through the use of theory/skills to produce a highly original submission that meets industry standards Industry level work that is as good as examples shown in class. All work is industry level, including process and presentation.
85-89% Exceptional Work: Exceptional comprehension of course learning outcomes. Requirements of assignment/course are satisfied through the use of theory/skills to produce an original submission that meets industry standards. Industry level work that is as good as examples shown in class. Must be industry level with some minor flaws in the deliverable, process, or presentation.
80-84% Excellent Work: Excellent comprehension of course learning outcomes. Requirements of assignment/course are satisfied through the use of theory/skills to produce a submission with elements of originality that meets industry standards. Industry level work. Must be industry level with some flaws in the deliverable, process, or presentation.
75-79% Very Good Work: Thorough comprehension of course learning outcomes. Requirements of assignment/course are satisfied through the skilled use of theory/techniques to produce high quality student work. High quality student work. Some minor inconsistencies in the deliverable, process, or presentation.

65-69% Competent Work: Acceptable comprehension of course/project learning outcomes. Requirements of the course/assignment are satisfied with ample skill. With minor inconsistencies in the deliverable, process, or presentation.
60-64% Fairly Competent Work: Moderate comprehension of course/project learning outcomes. Requirements of the course/assignment are satisfied with some skill. Average student work. Did what was asked. No more. No less. With inconsistencies in the deliverable, process, or presentation.
55-59% Passing Work: Passable comprehension of course/project learning outcomes. Requirements of the course/assignment are satisfied with limited skill. Below average student work. Lacks understanding. Lacks technical. Minor elements incomplete.
50-54% Borderline Work: Minimal comprehension of course/project learning outcomes. Requirements of the course/assignment are satisfied with marginal skill. Below average student work. Lacks understanding. Lacks technical. Elements incomplete.
40-49% Poor Work: Insufficient effort and/or minimal comprehension of course/project learning outcomes. Requirements of the course/assignment are not satisfied despite the completion all components. Does not meet learning outcomes. Did not learn enough to apply their knowledge to subsequent projects.
1-30% Very Poor Work: Submission is partial and/or of poor quality. An incomplete comprehension of course/project learning outcomes is demonstrated. Does not meet learning outcomes. Submission is incomplete and/or demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of any of the learning outcomes.
0% No Submission: No work was submitted for review. Does not meet learning outcomes. No submission.
